One of Eduwork.Net’s aims to build networks and partnerships of VET providers and employers at regional, national and European level. Through these networks and partnerships the purpose of the project is to build capacity, at a grass roots level, so that there can be more effective implementation of good practice work-based-learning and apprenticeships, uniquely developing pathways for VET students to benefit from opportunities provided through mobilities – support for mobilities remains a core focus of the Erasmus+ programme.
Recently, we have been assessing the impact of the UK government’s decision not to participate in the next generation of the Erasmus+ programme. Recently the UK government announced its intention to replace the UK’s participation in Erasmus+ with a new programme – the ‘Turing Scheme’, which is aimed at enabling students and trainees to study and do work placements across the world. Both the Turing Scheme (once fully operational) and Erasmus+ aim to boost students’ skills and prospects and create life-changing opportunities.
With this in mind, we will be reviewing carefully the recently-announced Turing scheme for skills and vocational education with our UK partner, Rinova. In particular, we will be exploring how best we can make the links between the ’network of networks’ we are building in VET and the longer term objectives of Eduwork.net in relation to Erasmus+ transnational mobilities and the Turing scheme with the UK.
